Tributes Pour in For Elected Leader of WHO Africa Dr. Ndugulile

Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, elected as WHO Regional Director for Africa in August 2024, has passed away in India where he was receiving medical treatment.

Ndugulile was elected as successor to WHO Afro Director Matshidiso Moeti during the 74th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa. His tenure as Regional Director was to begin in February 2025, following Dr. Moeti's decade-long tenure.

Ndugulile served as Tanzania's Health Minister and pledged his commitment to healthcare reforms across Africa, including addressing pressing challenges like the spread of measles.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan expressed her condolences on X (formerly Twitter): "I have received with great sadness the news of the passing of Honourable Dr. Faustine Ndugulile. His death is a significant loss, not only to the people of Kigamboni but to all Tanzanians."
